Dr. McClellans’s first federal advisory committee service was as a member of a joint USAEC and NASA committee on health risks of space nuclear systems. From 1967 through today he has served on more than 60 major advisory committees for the U.S. EPA, National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, FDA, CIA, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, among many others. |
His public service has extended to other areas, serving on adjunct faculty of nine universities. And, perhaps most importantly, he has encouraged and mentored many other scientist to develop the same commitment. He has guided several junior colleagues to be involved and assume leadership positions.
