Recipients of the Distinguished
Public Service Award are recognized in four categories: federal agencies or
national laboratories; state agencies or universities;
local or Indian government; and business and civic organizations. Individuals
are nominated by the local, state or federal agencies where they are employed,
or by private citizens who have knowledge of their exceptional contribution
to public service. |
Now in its 31st year, the New
Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award is given to New Mexicans who have
been publicly recognized for their outstanding contributions to the public
service. These are the people who, through their deeds, echo the words of
President John F. Kennedy, "Let the Public Service be a proud and lively career." |
Each year the Governor appoints
a person to serve as the Awards Council Chairman. This year the Awards Council
is being chaired by Marlin D. Coffee, President and CEO of Oso Grande Technologies,
Inc. |
Over the past 31 years, the list
of winners reads like a Who's Who of New Mexico history. To date, over 290
citizens of New Mexico have been publicly recognized for their outstanding
contributions to the public service. |
